Bumpchats is a social app that aims to provide a safe outlet for better human conversations globally without the burden of putting up appearances. Bumpchats seeks to create a personalised space for people to have safe and meaningful discussions based on their honest selves while simultaneously providing the right people to form connections.
Unfortunately, Bumpchats was discontinued in 2022.
Humans thrive via connecting with other people. Sometimes when faced with challenges, we want to share or talk to someone, but we find it difficult because we are already prejudged based on our social status or what we appear to be.
For example, a person that complains about loneliness on their social media will probably get ignored by people because they have a stable income job or if they recently migrated to a better country. We tend to compare our difficulties and disregard the possibility of feeling and experiencing things differently.
How can we help people connect freely and safely without the fear of prejudice? How can we ensure that the people paired will be a perfect relatable match?
We conducted a series of brainstorming and ideating sessions to achieve the set goals. I researched similar products on the internet. I also thought about creating a personal and safe experience with the desired goals as the focal point.
We wanted the people to create accounts quickly, but we wanted to ensure the emails were verifiable too.
Here, we ask people a few questions to help us learn about and understand them better.
There are so many emotions people feel. We carefully designed this section to pinpoint the exact emotions people feel engagingly.
A smooth first call is significant to the quality of a person's bumpchats experience. We educate people on how they should communicate + there's a cool, calming music I selected that plays while waiting for your match!
This is where people learn more about themselves through tailored questions, enhancing their identity as they complete exercises. There's also the option to share results to promote social engagement, encouraging users to take more exercises for better self-awareness, improved conversations, and meaningful connections with others.
